Heinkel He 343 Luft '46 Entry
Although Heinkel had been working on a similar project (P.1068), it was decided to take a proven design (Arado Ar 234) and enlarge the dimensions.
The He 343 (this designation was submitted to the RLM on March 14, 1944) was to have a 1.55:1 larger wing than the Ar 234, and the linear dimensions were to be increased by 1.25:1.
The He 343 program was stopped in late 1944*, and all finished components and construction jigs were either put into storage, or scrapped, due to the worsening war situation, in which all aircraft construction was to be concentrated on fighter aircraft.

Heinkel - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Heinkel was established at Warnemünde in 1922 as the restrictions on German aviation imposed by the Treaty of Versailles were relaxed.
Heinkel was less successful in selling fighter designs - before the war, the Heinkel He 112 had been rejected in favour of the Messerschmitt Bf 109, and Heinkel's attempt to top Messerschmitt's design with the Heinkel He 100 failed due to political interference within the Reichsluftfahrtministerium (RLM - Reich Aviation Ministry).
In 1939, the Heinkel He 176 and Heinkel He 178 became the first aircraft to fly under liquid-fuel rocket and turbojet power respectively, and Heinkel was the first to develop a jet fighter to prototype stage, the Heinkel He 280.

Notable Heinkel aircraft of World War II include the He 111, originally designed as a civilian airliner but adapted almost immediately as a medium bomber.
It was used extensively in air raids over England 1940, but was found to be vulnerable to attack and so was redeployed as a night bomber and mine-layer.

 Heinkel He.343

Development of Heinkel's first axial-flow engine started in the summer of 1939 Given top priority by Eernst Heinkel the engine was tested in 1941 and by 1942 the engine made 820 kp, but work was halted in July 1942 so development could be focuses on the He S 011.
Conceived by Helmut Schelp in 1942, the He S 011 was the most advanced engine developed up to 1945, it consisted of a diagonal centrifugal compressor and a three stage axial compressor, it was hoped that it would make 3,500 lb of thrust.

 Messerschmitt Bf 109 - Germany
It was to be equipped with at least two MG-17 7.9 millimeter machine guns, and to have the capability of utilizing the new liquid cooled vee 12 engines under development by Junkers and Daimler-Benz.
The Bf 109 was the winner in the trials, exceeding its nearest rival, the Heinkel He 112, by 17 mph.
When first 'blooded' in the Spanish Civil War, it became clear to the German Condor Legion that their Heinkel He 51 biplanes were inferior to Italian built fighters, and the Soviet Union Polikarpov I-16s.

Number 8-100 was originally allocated to Fieseler, but requested by Heinkel as a "special" number for his aircraft, which was to break the absolute speed record.
Heinkel initially assigned the number He 180 to this project, but this was changed by the RLM to He 280, because it conflicted with the Bü 180.
This digit was - with the exception of "1" for Heinkel - chosen to match the 100 block number assigned to this manufacturer for piston engines.
