Helen Rose was born in Chicago on 2nd February 1904.
Helen won two Oscars for costume design, in 1952 for "The Bad and the Beautiful" starring Lana Turner, and in 1955 for "I'll Cry Tomorrow" starring Susan Hayward.
Helen Rose died on 9th November 1985, at the age of 81.

She and Thomas McKinley Rose were married July 17, 1943, in Mississippi County, Ark. He died Jan. 7, 1985.
Rose was a nurses aide at St. Francis Medical Center 37 years, retiring in 1989.

Helen's death was a great shock from which Mary never did fully recover.
The first woman legislator from Humboldt County, and the second woman to appear on a general election ballot in that county, Mary Rose was elected in 1924 to the Thirty-Second Session of the Legislature of the State of Nevada, to be seated in 1925.

Helen Rose began designing costumes in the 1920s, but it wasn't until the 1940s that she began her illustrious career designing for motion picture studios, first for Twentieth Century Fox and then MGM, when she was hired to replace Adrian in 1943.
Rose designed costumes for her stars that reflected their on-screen glamour, and also gave them a soft, practical, up-to-date look.
In the late 1950s, Rose opened her own business and continued to dress Hollywood ladies off-screen.

My main purpose in this web site is for my family genealogy and I'm always pleased to hear from people with possible connections to my family tree/s.
My main area of research is ROSE and my ancestors seem to have lived abundantly in the Pirbright, Windlesham and Bagshot areas of Surrey although the trail is now leading to Hampshire.
Freeman is my mother's maiden name and I have only recently started to research this name so not much information yet, but I do know that FREEMAN appears frequently in the Parish records of Leicester where my mother lived as a child.
