HELENA SUKOVA: I am very disappointed, because I thought I had a good shot at this one.
Helena, were you saying before at the beginning now that after the first game-- these calls with the inexperienced umpire, that was tough for you to recover from that game?
Do you take pride, Helena, you had a shot at a triple here, you are still alive for a double.

Suk and Sukova keep it in the family
THE Centre Court was worn and the players still more so as Helena Sukova and her brother, Cyril Suk, finally brought Wimbledon 1996 to a close with a 1-6, 6-3, 6-2 win over Mark Woodforde and Larisa Neiland.
At the start, as Sukova combined with Martina Hingis to win the first of her two Grand Slam titles of the day, the crowd was spilling over with excitement.
Helena picked up a little matter of £103,660 at The Championship's end, while her brother collected £34,140.

Hingis sets record as Wimbledon draws to a close one day late
The odd couple of Hingis and Helena Sukova, the former half the age and seemingly half the height of the latter, teamed to win the women's doubles title by completing a 5-7, 7-5, 6-1 victory over Meredith McGrath and Larisa Neiland.
Sukova, 31 years old and eight inches taller than Hingis, won the Wimbledon women's doubles title in 1989 and 1990 with Czech Republic compatriot Jana Novotna, and in 1987 with Claudia Kohde-Kilsch.
Sukova and her brother, Cyril Suk, triumphed 1-6, 6-3, 6-2 over Neiland and Australia's Mark Woodforde despite losing the first set in only 18 minutes.

 Kournikova wins age game
WHEN Helena Sukova, 32, and Anna Kournikova, who is precisely half her age, were one set all on Court 3, with Sukova having won the first set 6-2 and Kournikova the second by the same margin, the question everyone was asking was which Sukova would surface in the final set.
She probably did not have too much respect for Sukova at the start, for none of the young players know much about the feats of the older generation.
Sukova, two days before, had spoken of how she had never had any of the publicity of Kournikova's generation.
