The beatles?!, C'mon, this is Helloween not U2.
"2000: Helloween version 2000 totally rock, lineup had some changes since the "keepers" era, but the dark ride has every element of the best Helloween along with a modern and aggresive touch.
Maybe two of the best songs Helloween ever made, but the rest of the album just starts falling apart..

  Helloween
In the second "Experimental" period, Helloween had a bunch of trouble with their record company, and was apparently wracked by intra-band turmoil.
This album isn't quite as solid as Part I, but it's a lot longer, so there's at least 39 minutes of Part I quality music to be found on it.
Helloween was apparently unsatisfied by the direction they'd taken over their last two albums, and decided to return to a style that resembled the Keepers albums.

The debut album of Masterplan was certainly the most expected album of the new year beginning.
Helloween was not a great live band for me, we had fun but we never had that image, when people say we're a really fucking good live band.
But the second album of Masterplan should have a lot of attention and should be better than this one, that's a hard work and I shouldn't waste my energy by doing good solo albums.

Helloween compensate for their lack of new ideas by stacking old ones on top of each other, hoping that by some divine alchemy they can create evocative music.
Helloween, when they were relevant, could deliver painfully melodic riffs and solos in such a furious manner that it more than made up for how fruity they were.
Helloween's new album is one of the best power metal releases of the year and their second best Deris album (after Dark Ride).

He got his start on the prior album, “Time of the Oath”, and I think all he knows how to write is a song where all the instruments (and the singer too!) bang away like the drums.
This sound is supported by the fact that the way the guitars are tuned on this album lend themselves to that style, which is unusual for a power metal band.
I think this album is their darkest, even more so than “The Dark Ride”, which is unusual, and it’s also one of their heaviest albums.

On this solo album Andi was able to leave Helloween’s heavy sound a bit aside and experiment with new genres.
In the album "Come In From The Rain", besides Andi (vocals and guitar), the line up was: Peter Idera (guitar), his great friend, Ralph Maison (drums and backing vocals) and Gisbert Royder (bass).

This is the last Helloween album with the line up that after many years seemed almost unbreakable.
This is definitely a hard and atmospheric album that still has the classical catchy Helloween leads and choruses aplenty.
The swift guitar solo spot is one of the albums best and the catchy chorus works as a nice contrast to an otherwise very aggressive and heavy vibe.

Helloween's 1987 album Keeper of the Seven Keys Part 1 is a heavy metal classic.
Unfortunately, after this successful run, Helloween was involved in a lawsuit with its former record company and the band lost most of the momentum it had built over the late 80's.
Helloween is an interesting band to say the least.

So your decision to purchase this album can be based on two things: Whether or not you like HammerFall or classic metal in general, or whether or not you like it when a band sticks to their same formula.
This has got to be the most anticipated album in years for metalheads who are ecstatic to see one of metal's most legendary bands with their classic lineup (plus one).

Helloween guitarist/de facto leader Michael Weikath didn't like the direction the band was going with Ride, and when he announced his intentions to take Helloween "back to basics," Grapow and Kusch immediately tendered their resignations.
The genre has just been stagnant for several years now, and for Helloween to go back to their old sound just seemed, to me, to be a bad idea.
But the difference between The Dark Ride and the other albums was enough that they left a lot of their fans out in the cold, although they attracted a different kind of fan.

Anyway, this is the first album with powerhouse drummer Uli Kusch and Andi Deris (ex PINK CREAM 69 singer); Deris is not the one at fault here, he does a good job with his light and cheerful voice.
The album’s first half is pretty good with songs like “Sole Survivor”, “Where The Rain Grows” and “Why” demonstrating the band’s run of the mill tradition of Happy Melodic Power Metal with catchy choruses.
This is not a hungry HELLOWEEN but listen to “The Time Of The Oath”, “Better Than Raw” or “The Dark Ride” and you’ll see why they didn’t continue on this course.

RHAPSODY I can deal with since classical music is a part of their musical concept but when it comes to other bands, especially HELLOWEEN, I just wait for it to end or skip it if it doesn’t catch me after hearing it the first time.
However doubtful the quality and capabilities of HELLOWEEN’s skills in writing slow stuff may be, ”Hey Lord” and ”A Handful Of Pain” are two noteworthy mid-pacers which proves they can if they put enough inspiration into it.
After his departure every HELLOWEEN album has had some pretty lame songs; ”I Can” could have been used as the theme to a modern ”Rocky” movie and nothing more, ”Don’t Spit On My Mind” fails to catch my attention because of the weird and atypical atmosphere it has (why the silly keyboards sounds?).
