The Gila monster (Heloderma sucpectum) and the Mexican beaded lizard (Heloderma horridum) are the only two venomous lizards.
Heloderma Heloderma is a genus of Mexican lizard.
Its venomous cousin, the Mexican Beaded Lizard (Heloderma horridum), is slightly bigger in addition to darker.

Unfortunately, the United States and Mexico are the host countries to the only two species of poisonous lizards in the world.
The Gila monster (Heloderma suspectum) and the Mexican beaded lizard (Heloderma horridum) are both found in the Southwestern United States and occasionally an unsuspecting -- and curious -- dog or cat may run afoul of one of these reptiles.
These lizards have venom glands located in the lower lips.
