Solotude (formerly The S-Train Canvas): Movie/Film Biz Archives
The Wachowskis' blow the doors off their own film with the sheer scope of this battle, which combines great looking special effects with traditional war film chestnuts such as the disillusioned general, the meek private who saves the day, and the desperate moments within the firefight, when prayers for help are rarely answered.
The film is very lean on introductions, plunging right into the third chapter of Neo's journey to become the chosen one, though a base knowledge of what occurs in the video game `Enter The Matrix' might help with understanding what exactly happened to Niobe (Jada Pinkett Smith) and her ship.
Written, produced, and directed by Greg Spotts, the film is independent and nonpartisan and I found it infinately much better than Fahrenheit 9/11.

To help him pick up his enormous paycheck and outrun the FBI - who are on his case because of his shady work partners - Michael turns to two Hollywood stereotypes for help, the love interest (Uma Thurman) and the unattractive but amusing buddy (Paul Giamatti).
Instead the film feels like a standard Tinsletown thriller, entertaining enough in a roustabout sort of way, but rather predictable and formulaic in the process.
The ultimate paycheck soon comes the way of the handsome geek in the form of a 3 year project worth millions of dollars and even more stock options.

“Midway” is an interesting and accurate account of the events that made up the battle of Midway and includes an impressive list of big name actors to help tell it’s story, however the film is marred by a number of elements that prevent it from being a truly satisfying experience.
The film is presented in an aspect ratio of 2.35:1 and is 16:9 enhanced.
“Midway” is not a great film, but with some big name actors providing good performances and generating interest in the subject material, it is fascinating to watch how events unfolded in the Midway islands in 1942.
