Hendon was historically a civil parish in the county of Middlesex.
In 1932 the urban district became the Municipal Borough of Hendon.
Hendon and District Archaeological Society has found a number of interesting Roman artifacts at Church End but nothing conclusive, and the Saxon settlement near to the church may not be a continuation of its Roman predecessor.
