Henley Royal Regatta is a rowing event held every year on the river Thames by the town of Henley-on-Thames, England.
Due to the increasing number of women rowing in Britain, Henley Women's Regatta was formed in 1988 although the subsequent inclusion of elite-level events at Henley Royal has reduced participation in the top events at Henley Women's somewhat.

The regatta is one of the major events in the social calendar of the upper class in England.
Although preference is given to people who have previously competed at the regatta, the social position of the event means that some people in the Stewards' Enclosure may have no interest in the actual rowing.
The race can also be viewed from the Regatta Enclosure (open only to competitors, guests, and paying members of the public), the Remenham Club (open only to members and guests), and also from further along the bank towards the start, which is open to the public.
