Henri Marie Coandă (June 7, 1886 – November 25, 1972) was a Romanian inventor, aerodynamics pioneer and the parent of the modern jet aircraft.
Born in Bucharest, Coandă was the second child of a large family.
Coandă died in Bucharest November 25, 1972 at the age of 86.

Two international airports in Romania were briefly evacuated on Tuesday due to bomb threats but anti-terrorist units who checked Bucharest's Henri Coanda and Baneasa airports found nothing, officials said.
An airport official at Henri Coanda, Romania's main international airport, said an anonymous phone call was made at 11:05 a.m.
Another call, threatening a bomb at Bucharest's smaller Baneasa Airport, was received at 11:20 a.m., the ministry said in a statement.
