Henrietta Street and Maiden Lane Area: Henrietta Street | British History Online
From the first the residents of Henrietta Street were predominantly tradesmen although until the mid seventeenth century three or four persons of title were usually to be found living there.
The entrance at the east end of the Henrietta Street front is flanked by Tuscan pilasters, but the office entrance at the south end of the east front is a simple opening in the rusticated face, its straightarched voussoired head having a large keystone carved with a lion's head.
The Henrietta Street front is a distinguished example of the 'Queen Anne' style introduced by Norman Shaw.

This rational process was also manifest in the hierarchical design of the streets, where the sequence of main street, subsidiary street and mews lane was reflected in the diminishing scale of the buildings associated with each.
This was the case with Bolton Street and Henrietta Street in their original form: standard plots on Bolton Street of a street-fronted house with a rere yard and mews building, divided by the entrance to Henrietta Street.
This is not apparent from vantage points further along Bolton Street, and part of the character of the street is the surprise experienced as this semi-formal set piece is revealed in such an unlikely situation, an effect heightened by its narrow ‘entrance’ at the eastern end.

All the early views of the west side of the Piazza show on either side of the church and churchyard two houses, which Sir John Summerson has described as 'of obviously Jonesian proportions', and which were clearly an integral part of the original architectural scheme (see page 70 and Plates 11, 12, 13a, 26).
In 1729—30 No. 37, in common with most of the north side of Henrietta Street, was demolished and replaced by a house of the best second rate.
The articles of agreement for the rebuilding specify a four-storey house in which the height of the rooms on the ground storey were to be 9 feet, on the second storey 9 feet 6 inches, on the third storey 8 feet 6 inches and on the garret storey 7 feet.

RSAI - Excursions and Outings - King's Inns and Henrietta Street
The street was first laid out and developed in 1729-30 by Luke Gardiner, a banker and building developer of humble origins, whose father was perhaps a coachman.
Gardiner was careful in choosing the names of the streets he developed, and Henrietta Street was named after the wife of Charles Paulet, 2nd Duke of Bolton, who had been the Irish Lord Lieutenant 1717-21, and after whom the adjacent Bolton Street is named.
The aspect of the street was initially open to fields to the west, but with the construction of the Kings’ Inns by James Gandon in 1800, (laid out to the annoyance of Lord Mountjoy and fellow residence of Henrietta Street at an oblique angle), the street gained an awkward termination.

Discontinuity Guide - The Adventuress of Henrietta Street
Continuity: [Note: The Adventuress of Henrietta Street is written in the style of a (rather chatty) historical text, with very little dialogue and from the point of view of a human author who is unaware of the Doctor's true origins.
The fictional author notes that the historical texts from which his conclusions are drawn are often conflicting and are of varying reliability, and very little is explicitly stated therefore the events of the novel are all open to interpretation, except the prologue and epilogue.
Exactly how the Doctor got to Earth without the TARDIS is unclear, as is how he transports Fitz and Anji, both naked, to the house on Henrietta Street.
