Henry Callahan (1958–1982) was a player and ambassador of Ultimate and helped bring the sport to the University of Oregon, formally establishing a team in 1978.
Both the Callahan Award, given each year to the best male and female college Ultimate players, and the Callahan Rules of Ultimate are named after him.
In addition, the catching of a disc in one's endzone by a defensive player, resulting in a point, is now known as a Callahan.

Callahan was very active in industry and labor during these years, organizing the Catholic Conference on Industrial Problems, participating in industry and labor conferences and speaking out against child labor.

John William and Jeremiah Henry bought separate bush land property on the Catlins lake, Owaka in South Otago where they raised their families.It is recorded in the Owaka museum that Jeremiah Henry Callahan (Jerry) was a stage coach driver in 1891-92 and that he drove the coach from Glenomaru to Owaka and Ratanui.
This is a photo of Jeremiah Henry Homestead on the edge of the Catlins lake which burnt down in 1972.
Jeremiah Henry died in 1953 and is buried with his wife Ann Proctor in the Owaka Cemetery.

Callahan, a Private in Company B, 122nd Illinois Infantry, earned his Medal of Honor on April 9, 1865 during the battle of Ft. Blakeley in Alabama by capturing the flag of the 2nd Alabama Infantry.
Virtually forgotten by his country for nearly 9 decades, Private Callahan's burial site was finally located about a year ago by 8 year old Gregory Luerding during a search of the cemetery by his family.
The burial flag, along with a framed portrait of John Callahan were presented to Ft. Blakeley by the family and the Riley County Historical Society.
