Henry County was established on December 13, 1819.
In the county the population was spread out with 24.10% under the age of 18, 8.40% from 18 to 24, 25.70% from 25 to 44, 25.50% from 45 to 64, and 16.40% who were 65 years of age or older.

 Henry County, Alabama
Henry County was created on 1819 Dec. 13.
The original county was vast in size, until its boundaries were reduced by the establishment of the counties of Pike and Covington in 1821, by Dale in 1824, by Barbour in 1832 and Houston in 1903.
Henry County is located in the southeastern corner of the state, bounded to the east by the State of Georgia and the Chattahoochee River.

The reason I believe it is Dianih "Diane" McGilvray is D. Shirley signed papers in 1915 in Henry County, Alabama, for Harriet Marley McGilvray to receive a CSA Widow's Pension upgrading her to the over 80 pension category for the service of Daniel McGilvray mentioned above.
Anyway, this John (father of John"shug") is buried in a graveyard on or near the county line of Henry/Barbour Counties in AL (near Eufaula).
The first two children were born in GA, the rest were born in AL, some in Henry CO. This family moved from AL to Jacinto CO, TX aft 1881.
