Henry Fitzalan-Howard, 15th Duke of Norfolk, 27 December 1847 — 11 February 1917, was an English nobleman and philanthropist.
The Cathedral of St John the Baptist in Norwich was commenced in 1882 and was the result of a gift of £200,000 from the 15th Duke.
The 15th Duke also donated funds for the building of the University of Sheffield and was its initial Chancellor.

According to The House of Lords Act 1999, Norfolk is one of only two hereditary peers automatically admitted to the House of Lords, without being elected by the general body of hereditary peers, due to his duties as Earl Marshal.
The present Duke of Norfolk holds the several subsidiary titles: Earl of Arundel (created 1433), Earl of Surrey (1483), Earl of Norfolk (1644), Baron Beaumont (1309), Baron Maltravers (1330), Baron Fitzalan (1627) and Baron Howard of Glossop (1869).
Thomas Mowbray was the 1st Duke of Norfolk, but John Mowbray, the 4th duke, died without male issue in 1476 (his only surviving child being the 3-year-old Anne), and there was no duke until John Howard (son of Thomas Mowbray's elder daughter Margaret) was created 1st Duke of Norfolk in 1483.

It was commissioned by Henry, XV Duke of Norfolk, in 1868 and opened on 1st July 1873, as the Catholic parish church of Arundel, with pontifical high mass in the presence of Cardinal Manning.

However, following the Canonisation of St Philip Howard in 1970 as one of the 40 martyrs, and the translation of the saint's remains to a newly built shrine in the Cathedral on 10th March 1971, the dedication was changed to Our Lady and St Philip Howard.
