Henry William Forster, 1st Baron Forster, GCMG, PC, DL (31 January 1866 15 January 1936), seventh Governor-General of Australia, was born in Kent, England, the son of an Army officer.
Forster entered the House of Commons as Member of Parliament (MP) for Sevenoaks in 1892, as a Conservative.
In 1919 he was elevated to the House of Lords as Baron Forster, of Lepe in the County of Southampton.

FORSTER, Sir HENRY WILLIAM, 1st Baron (1866-1936), governor-general, was born on 31 January 1866 at Southend Hall, Kent, England, son of Major John Forster, late 6th Dragoon Guards, and his wife Emily Jane, née Case.
A Unionist, in 1892-1918 Forster represented Sevenoaks and in 1918-19 Bromley in the House of Commons.
Forster was survived by his wife and two daughters when he died of coronary-vascular disease in London on 15 January 1936.
