Henry Jaglom - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Henry Jaglom (born 26 January 1941, London, United Kingdom) is a film director who specialises in independently made dramas loosely based on characters from his actual life, and often starring these very same individuals.
That film, starring Tuesday Weld and Orson Welles, was considered a commercial and critical failure, but did initiate a longtime friendship with Welles which involved Jaglom unsuccessfully going out of his way to try to obtain funding for Welles to direct a film in the United States of America again.
Jaglom is very active in Zionist charities and causes.

Jaglom, in khakis and trademark fl cap pulled low over his eyes, can be tracked through the offices by following his voice, for he is talking and moving all the time.
The very act of talking embodies a philosophy of life to which Jaglom is devoted and it accounts for the heavy use of unscripted dialogue used in all his films.
Jaglom's films are low-budget, dialogue-laden, comic art films in which relationships and issues are analyzed at length and with great humor, often supported by a very large cast of female characters speaking directly into a video camera.

DVD Talk > Reviews > Henry Jaglom's Eating - A Very Serious Comedy About Women and Food
So when Independent filmmaking maverick Henry Jaglom unleashed his filmic id on such a subject, allowing 20+ Los Angeles actresses, writers, professionals and models to share their thinly veiled feelings about food and their figure, the results had to seem groundbreaking.
Jaglom is personable but very pointed with his words, insisting that while he came up with the vague outlines of the plot (birthday party, woman with husband troubles) the rest of the content was crafted by the women he picked as his stars.
Jaglom goes into a great bit of detail about why he made the selections he did, and the significance behind each of the scenes he speaks over.

American actor/director/writer Henry Jaglom studied acting at the University of Pennsylvania, then completed his training at the Actors Studio in New York.
Jaglom acted on stage and in TV, marking time in small roles until 1967, when Jaglom found a project that could provide his big break: a marathon documentary of the Israeli six-day war, which he filmed, wrote and edited, but which was never generally released.
Jaglom's work is not always to everyone's taste, especially those films in which he self-indulgently cast himself in the leading role, but those willing to go along for the ride are in for a treat, albeit a long-winded one.
