Some suggest that, when the other evangelists wrote, Lazarus was alive, and it would not well agree either with his safety or with his humility to have it recorded till now, when it is supposed he was dead.
Lazarus is dead, but let us go to him; though perhaps those who said, If he sleep there is no need to go, were ready to say, If he be dead it is to no purpose to go.
Lazarus was a dear and loving friend both to Christ and his disciples, and perhaps Thomas had a particular intimacy with him.

Renascence: Dives and Lazarus in The Henriad   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-19)
It is indeed as problematic to overlook the criminal reality of Falstaff's life as it would be to ignore his role as parodist and champion of the imagination.
Without denying "the love and loyalty, the wit and imagination, and the comic genius" that Falstaff clearly manifests (Cubeta 204), we may well consider the possibility that, although he is Lazarus-like in death, he corresponds in life not only to Dives and his five surviving brothers but also to Jesus's Pharisaic audience.
Or as the Lord Chief justice puts it in another context, Falstaff is guilty of "wrenching the true cause the false way" (Henry IV, part two, 2.1.108-9), of emptying the parable of its warning and displacing its language onto a barroom joke.

 The Victorian Clarinet Tradition
The artistry of Henry Lazarus, the great Victorian clarinettist after whom Lazarus Edition is named, was the inspiration of a generation of players, both professional and amateur, and his pupils, notably Charles Draper, who in his turn taught Frederick Thurston, carried the tradition forward until the present day.
Succeeding Willman as principal clarinet of the Italian Opera under Costa at the age of twenty-five he held the post for 43 years, as well as being appointed to positions in the Philharmonic Society, the Crystal Palace Concerts and the Birmingham Festival.
Lazarus always came, even from the unnoticed ranks of the wood wind at the opera, with a distinction and fine artistic feeling that roused a longing for an orchestra of such players.
