Henry Moore Teller (1830–1914) was a U.S. political figure.
Teller served in the Senate and Cabinet for twenty years, and was connected with the silver question since 1880.
Historically, Teller is probably best known for lending his name to the so-called "Teller Amendment" added onto the Joint Resolution for war with Spain passed by the House (311 to 6) and Senate (42 to 35) on April 19, 1898.

The Teller Amendment, enacted on April 11, 1898, stated that when the United States defeated the Spanish Occupants, it would give the Cubans their freedom.
In April 1898 Senator Henry M. Teller (Colorado) proposed an amendment to the U.S. declaration of war against Spain which proclaimed that the United States would not establish permanent control over Cuba.
The Teller Amendment was succeeded by the Platt Amendment introduced by Senator Orville Platt (R-Connecticut) in February 1901.

Teller maintained his chairmanship of the Committee on Claims through the transition from Republican to Silver, and maintained his chairmanship of the Committee on Private Land Claims throughout the transition from Silver to Democrat, despite the fact the Republican party retained the majority during each of these times.

A bill introduced by Senator Henry M. Teller, authorizing establishment of a post for the Army near Denver, was signed by President Cleveland in February, 1887.
Colonel Henry C. Merriam came from Fort Laramie, Wyoming in 1889 to become Commanding Officer at Fort Logan, and five companies of the famed 7th Infantry from Fort Laramie were assigned to Fort Logan also.
Troops from Fort Logan were sent to South Dakota in December 1890 to assist in controlling a feared Sioux uprising, but the Colorado contingent was delayed in reaching the area and did not participate in the fighting which culminated with the massacre at Wounded Knee.
