HENRY was the younger brother of Colonel Francis Willis.
HENRY was Burgess in Glouchester County in the Assemblies of 1717-20-22-23-26 and Glouchester was represented in the Assemblies of 1727-1734 by both Francis and HENRY.
HENRY was the founder of Fredericksburg, Virginia and in the May, 1740 session, appeared as Burgess from Spottsylvania County.

Henry, usually referred to as ‘Father’ Willis, was born in 1821 and first gained national prominence in 1851 when he built a large organ for the Great Exhibition.

Willis was generally recognised as the greatest organ builder of the time and the organs built by the firm in the second half of the nineteenth century and the first half of the twentieth century are all instruments of great renown.
The organ in Christ Church Port Sunlight was built by Henry Willis II and is believed to be the largest extant 4 manual Willis II organ still in its original condition and still in every day use.
It is reckoned to be one of the finest examples of early twentieth century English organ building and is recognised by the British Institute of Organ Studies as an instrument of importance to the national heritage.

It was consecrated in 1901 and has been expertly maintained in its original condition; the work on the Gateshead 'Father' Willis was completed by his son Henry Willis II.

Described as ‘an American man of means’, Henry Willis Rudd made the unfortunate mistake of backing the manufacture of the Lewis gun when it moved from Belgium to England in 1914.
In the meantime, Henry Rudd had arrived in England to collect the guns that had been made for Germany, Austria and Italy, to accompany them to Antwerp from where they were to be taken to the afore mentioned countries.
