Henry is an unusual child for other reasons besides his amazing memory and his unusual upbringing.
Henry is an instantly likable character for his childlike innocence mixed with precocious statements.
Surprisingly, Henry is one character that actually becomes less likable over time as it becomes increasingly clear that he is more a talented parrot than a genius and as his careless behavior gets him into more and more trouble.

UW Press - : When Government Was Good, Henry S. Reuss
House Representative Henry S. Reuss (Dem., Wisconsin, 1955-83) believes there was indeed a time when government worked—the "Golden Age" of 1948–68.
Not afraid to call things as they are, he blasts the political forces that have led to the disintegration of this Golden Age: economic and racial inequality and excessive militarism.
Reuss emerged from the privileged domain of a wealthy, educated, white man into the realities of contemporary world politics—he saw the inequality and poverty in American cities and third world countries, and he saw politicians and laws disrespectful of the environment.

Set against the background of Caesar's Palace, Henry of Atlantic City is a satirical “hagiography” of a troubled child trying to make sense of the world around him.
Henry, whose imagination has been fed by ancient texts, finds himself living in a conflated world of past and present where casino owners are Byzantine Emperors, and the world is populated by Huns, Cappadocians, and Visigoths.
As Henry struggles to find a place for himself in the world, we are treated to an exploration of spirituality and childhood that is heartbreaking, uplifting, and simply divine.

It is only necessary to recall the fact that the sole child of Princess Charlotte, Princess Fedora, now married to Prince Henry of Reuss, was born twelve months after her mother's marriage, in order to show how utterly without foundation was this shameful slander.
Empress Frederick always declared that her daughter Charlotte was frivolous, and as much inclined to be forward and rebellious to discipline and control as her eldest son, the present emperor.
Sad is it to add that the youth of neither William nor Charlotte was a particularly happy one, and thus it is not astonishing that one as well as the other should have felt inclined to run a bit wild, like young colts, when first emancipated from the school-room.
