 Syndrome by Tony Fay
Using the Polish Antarctic station Henryk Arctowski as its base of operations, an elite team of young scientists and physicians, led by Holden’s friend and colleague, Dr. JULIAN GLOVER, has been hard at work getting the research up and running for the past six months.
The triggers an avalanche on Jardine’s Peak, the dormant volcano looming over Arctowski Station, knocking out the station’s power and causing serious structural damage to its buildings and complex network of underground tunnels.
Upon arriving at Arctowski Station, Holden is surprised to learn that STEPHEN DENARDO, the shadowy emissary to the board of directors of EOC Labs---the project’s chief financial benefactor---is at the station.
