  CNN.com - A new role for Capt. Janeway - Apr. 9, 2003
Hepburn has returned home from California after being labeled "box-office poison" by theater owners because of a series of flops that followed a 1933 Oscar for her role in "Morning Glory." In the latest blow, she learns that she has lost the part of Scarlett O'Hara in "Gone With the Wind" to Vivien Leigh.
It is during this act that Hepburn relates the painful story of having to cut down the body of her adored 15-year-old brother after he hanged himself.
She said one big difference between her and Hepburn, who never had children, is that the latter had a "myopic focus on her career" while Mulgrew said her own life has been enhanced by the choice to have a husband and children.

Hepburn was, of course, a fiercely independent person, and so was Capt. Janeway, who struggled to retain her femininity while serving as the first female captain of the Voyager.

Hepburn (1929–1993) held the irresistible charm of a childlike star naïvely unaware of her appeal, from her first big break at age 22 when selected by Colette herself to play the Broadway version of Gigi.
Hepburn is always anxious to please family, colleagues and friends, is uncertain about her beauty (she feels that she is too angular and that her nose is too large), and experiences bouts of nerves on movie sets and before television and other public appearances.
Hepburn also emerges as a woman of depth and principle-- her favorite role is that of Sister Luke in A Nun's Story, and she maintains a lifelong friendship with the former nun on whose life the film is based.
