  Herbert Ross - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Herbert David Ross (May 13, 1927 in Brooklyn, New York - October 9, 2001 in New York City), also known as Herb Ross, was a prolific film director, producer, choreographer and actor from the 1950s to the 1990s.
He was married twice, the first time to ballerina Nora Kaye, who died of cancer in 1987 at the age of 67, and secondly to Lee Radziwill, which marriage ended in divorce in 1999, the same year that Radziwill's son, Anthony Radziwill died of cancer.
Herbert Ross died at 74 in New York City of heart failure.

Herbert Ross, who was on the UGA entomology faculty from 1969 until his retirement in 1975, was an expert in insect systematics, the science of classifying species of insects and understanding their natural relationships.
Noblet said the couple wanted to create the endowment to honor Herbert Ross and to strengthen the entomology department's expertise in systematics, which has been an area of emphasis for the department since it was started in 1955 as part of UGA's College of Arts and Sciences.
In addition to his expertise in systematics, Herbert Ross was also well known for his work in evolutionary theory, community ecology and biogeography.

Herbert Ross, the Broadway choreographer who would become a film director and helm a clutch of Neil Simon movies, plus the dance-related "Footloose" and "The Turning Point," died Oct. 9 of heart failure, The New York Times reported.
Ross, born Herbert David Ross, attended high school in Miami Beach, FL, and studied dance in New York City with Doris Humphrey, Helene Platova and Laird Leslie, and began his career as an actor and dancer.
Ross was married to ballerina Nora Kaye in 1959.

Director Herbert Ross (The Turning Point) brings some gloss to the production, but he can't seem to do much else with the material.
However what you really need to know is how dead on every single character in this movie is. I don't care if you start at the top (Martin) and go all the way down to the two girl dancers (also brilliant) and every hood, cop, store clerk, and even the kid actors are all.....well....they're brilliant!
This is Herbert Ross's Masterpiece comedy that I predict will eventually get it'a due as ove of the ten funniest movies ever!
