 Wilck v. Herbert (1947) 78 CA2d 392
Herbert asserts that the contract had been obtained previously, as recited in the contract, when Lewis agreed orally regarding it, and therefore the expressed consideration, being a past consideration, was no consideration.
Herbert from his lawyer." Wilck was not a party to the production contracts, as above stated, but it appears, nevertheless, that the provision therein was for her benefit and that she could rely thereon as a basis for recovering for services rendered by her.
Herbert argues that the agency contract was applicable to {Page 78 Cal.App.2d 407} plays to be submitted, and that since the play "Quiet Please" was submitted to her and was orally accepted by her before the agency contract was executed, the agency contract was not applicable to it.

The most friendly biography of Taft was Duffy’s of 1930, which was a eulogy as much as a biography.
Duffy’s work is unstained by the varied emotions of the Butt letters from which historians have readily drawn opposite conclusions, sometimes from the same page.
Duffy had access to the Taft papers, but not as extensively as Pringle, a few years later.

The Herbert Hoover materials are especially rich for historians not only because of his presidency but also because Hoover had such a long career as a public servant before and after his presidency.
For example, Gerald S. Strober and Deborah Hart Strober, the authors of Let Us Begin Anew: An Oral History of the Kennedy Presidency, have recently published Nixon: An Oral History of His Presidency (Harper Collins, 1996).
