Herbert Tichy’s adventurous roaming of the Himalayas prompted my imagination ever since I read his books many years ago.
Tichy was obviously surprised then by a threefold depiction of the mountain seen from different angles with its front emphasized by an enlarged scale.
The experiences Herbert Tichy made in many countries among all sorts of people for several decades communicate a fascination to me, which may be of a romantic nature.

 Herbert Tichy - Portraits

Strange to say, Tichy spent 1/16 of what the Italain expedition spent and became famous for his “going up and down Nepal as a mountaineer in the Alps” (R. Frison Roche, Hystory of Alpinism) together with his good friend Pasang Dawa Lama.
Tichy suffered snow bites to his hands and returned to Base Camp where he met the French Swiss expedition led by Raymond Lambert.
Tichy would not give up and insisted on his rights on the mountain and with great determination, despite the injuries to his hands, on the 19th October he reached the summit together with Jochler and Pasang.
