The Herculoids debuted on CBS Saturday mornings on September 9, 1967, and ran until September 6, 1969.
Luckily for Zandor and his family, they have the help of a band of unique creatures, called the Herculoids, to aid them in their struggles: Gloop, Gleep (two protoplasmic creatures), Zok (a laser-shooting dragon), Igoo (a stone ape), and Tundro (a giant armadillo-thing).
New episodes of The Herculoids were created in 1981 for NBC's Super Stars which also featured new adventures of Space Ghost, as well as adventures that featured the the characters of both classic Hanna-Barbera cartoons together.

Herculoids was a kick ass 'toon, way better than Space Ghost (the original cartoon, not the talkshow, which is truly bizarre and funny).
THE HERCULOIDS jumped the shark when it was restored to imperfect life by Hanna-Barbera in the 1980s, with new lame episodes and idiotic villains...
The Herculoids were always up against either overwhelming numbers of foes or (more often) enemies with far superior technology.

Tundro was a "tremendous," a ten-legged dinosaur with a cannon for a horn.
Zandor and Tara may have employed the help of the Herculoids, but they could hold their own in a fight if the need arose.

 The Herculoids FAQ
Based on the planet Quasar, the Herculoids are incredible beasts who aid King Zandor of the land of Amzot, his wife Tara, and their son Dorno.
The Herculoids destroy all the Metal Apes and Zok causes a steel beam to fall on Malak and his assistant.
The Herculoids come to the rescue though and with Zok shattering their boulder tossing catapult and Igoo closing their entrance with a mountain of boulders, the surface of Amzot is safe again.

 Don Markstein's Toonopedia: The Herculoids
Like the majority of Hanna-Barbera's late '60s adventure characters (Shazzan, The Mighty Mightor etc.), The Herculoids were created by designer Alex Toth, whose comic book credits include Dell's Zorro, DC's Eclipso and much, much more.
The Herculoids were merchandised like most Hanna-Barbera characters, including stories in comic books — they never had their own title, but did appear in several issues of Gold Key's Hanna-Barbera Super TV Heroes, which they shared with Birdman, Young Samson, The Galaxy Trio and most of their contemporaries.
The Herculoids still turn up from time to time on Cartoon Network or Boomerang, its offshoot that specializes in older cartoons.

They were originally slated to be out in the Fall, but were pushed back to make room for the amazing Herculoids line.
While the human figures won't be in scale to the other lines (Birdman, Space Ghost, etc.) they are in scale to the creatures.

Comic Book Resources - CBR News - The Comic Wire
Born on June 25th, 1928 in New York City, Toth is known for his work as a designer and creator of a number of comics and animated properties.
Probably his best known creations to the public at large were for Hanna Barbera, where in the '60s and '70s he designed much loved creations like Space Ghost, Josie and the Pussycats, The Herculoids and the Super Friends.
His design influence is still felt today as many of those early cartoons have been reappropriated for new shows on Cartoon Network's Adult Swin, such as the popular "Space Ghost: Coast to Coast" and "Sea Lab 2021."
