Here Come the Brides - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Here Come the Brides was a television program that aired on the ABC television network from 1968 to 1970.
It was loosely based upon the Mercer Girls, Asa Mercer's efforts to bring civilization to old Seattle by importing marriageable women from the war-ravaged East Coast of the United States.
Some of the field trips would include any city that was mentioned in the show like New Bedford, MA (the city where the brides came from in the show), Seattle (the location of the show) and San Francisco (that was often mentioned).

Here Comes the Brides was a show that had a lot of potential, put went to its inevitable doom because of poor writing.
Here Come the Brides was one of the best written shows of its period--even after the jump.
It was very obvious to me the poster was a loyal fan of the show who gave an honest critique of the show and was not "ranting." I heartily agree that Robert Brown was an excellent actor, in fact all of the actors gave exceptional performances, even the "Ted McGinley" of her day Bridget Hanley.

Sadly the ending is contrived to fit the series—the only Jewish man in town happens to fall for the young bride keeping her from leaving town at the last minute (which would void the contract that the show hinges on).

Okay, of all the shows from the 1960s that I have reviewed, I have to admit that Here Come the Brides: The Complete First Season is probably the worst.
These shows may be older and may not be as technically advanced as a lot of the shows made today, however, I'll take the look of Here Come the Brides: The Complete First Season nine times out of ten over many of the current TV shows that are on today.

 HERE COME THE BRIDES
Set in Seattle in the 1870s, "Here Come The Brides" followed the tale of how the Bolt brothers were in danger of losing their timberland at Bridal Veil Mountain because their men were in near revolt over the lack of women in Seattle.
BRIDES is set in post-Civil War Seattle, so the dates don't exactly jive, but with an episode like this, we can be happy for the existence of "artistic license" on the part of the writers!
Jeremy is indeed cured, coming completely out of his shell in the process, but Candy is not so sure that she cares for this transformation...a very moving episode, with fantastic acting from Bobby.
