Boroughmuir hang on to upset odds against Heriots | Scottish Rugby | Rugby Union | Sport | Telegraph
While officials of Aberdeen and the Hawks sought to defuse the row that erupted after Aberdeen coach Damien Reidy claimed he had been the victim of racial and sectarian abuse at a recent Hawks match, winter set in with a vengeance at Rubislaw and the potentially awkward meeting was postponed.
As a consequence, attention swung to Goldenacre, where league leaders Heriot's were expected to strengthen their grip on the championship with a victory over Boroughmuir that would have extended their lead over the Hawks in the title race.
Heriot's were counting the cost of losing Ander Monro with a shoulder injury before the match, for the fly-half's customary composure was sorely missed.

In conclusion and on behalf of all Heriot’s people I congratulate the Trades on this their 50th aniversary and I wish them continued success in the next 50 years adding to their illustrious history and continuing to show the hospitality and friendship to everyone just as they did with the “Heriot Connection”.

Wattie was one of the outstanding "Greens" wingers of the post-war years, as rugby commentator Bill McLaren said, he had almost a sixth sense in positioning and brought a wholeheartedness to his running that marked him out as a formidable opponent in both attack and defence.
When Wattie's playing days ended, he served Hawick RFC as a committee man, selector and grounds convener and was club president from 1973-1975.
In the mid 1990s he was honoured for 50 years service to the club and also presented with a special portrait of Goldenacre from Heriots FP RFC in acknowledgement of his friendship to that club.

Today we welcome to Malleny Park Heriots or The Nails as they for so long have endearingly been described in Rugby circles.

Currie RFC is a community based club which draws the bulk of its membership from the Currie/Balerno and surrounding areas.
