HeritageMinutes (Historica Minutes: History by the Minute) are sixty-second short films each illustrating an important moment in Canadian history.
The minutes were first introduced on March 31, 1991 as part of a one-off heavily-promoted history quiz show hosted by Rex Murphy.
The continued broadcast of the Minutes and the production of new ones was pioneered by Charles Bronfman's CRB Foundation and Canada Post (with Bell Canada being a later sponsor).
Discussion was held on the mandate of the Committee and Council’s expectations of the Committee.

One minute is not a lot of time, so they will have to remember to be concise in their use of language and content.
The students will need time to practice their scenes, even if filming the HeritageMinute, as this will speed up the process once they are in front of the camera.
They will then either be ready to present live in front of the class or to film and edit their HeritageMinutes.

In addition, it is possible to use the instructions on the site to teach your students how to create a HeritageMinute.
Direct students to complete a HeritageMinute according to the instructions on the CRB site.
Each group must create a Minute that reflects a topic relating to the labour movement, the women's movement, or the Aboriginal movement in Canada during the twentieth century.
The "HeritageMinutes" are the mini-movies seen on TV and in Canadian movie theatres.
The entire collection of HeritageMinutes (English and Francais), including a booklet of teaching ideas, can be borrowed for use in Abbotsford classrooms.

The Great Locomotive Chase, where Union spies attempted to steal the Confederate Locomotive "The General" and destroy rail lines and bridges, took place on April 12, 1862.
The month of April has become to be known as Confederate History and Heritage Month.
In Mississippi on February 1, 1890, an appropriation for a monument to the Confederate dead was being considered.
