The West Coast Railway Heritage Park is open from 10:00 a.m.
The West Coast Railway Association (WCRA) is a non-profit society incorporated in 1961 under the Societies Act of British Columbia, and is a registered charity.
Currently the Heritage Park is undergoing major construction of its third phase, comprising of CN Turntable Plaza (to open 2007) and the Roundhouse & Conference Centre at the Park (to open 2008).

 Railway: Newfoundland and Labrador Heritage
The railway did indeed fulfill some of the ambitions of its earliest promoters, as a "development road." The line and associated developments in heavy industry, transportation and communications were key to developing the forest industries of Newfoundland, mining and hydro-electricity.
The railway itself, and attempts by the Reid family to encourage development of the lands awarded under various operating contracts, not only made the vast interior known but further made the potential of land-based resources a staple of public policy.
Completion of the railway contributed to the settling of French Shore issue, opened the west coast to further settlement and provided a tangible link with the rest of the country.

 Railways in Draycott
Although the village of Draycott-en-le-Moors has never actually had its own railway station, the parish has actually contained two railway stations and three railway lines within its borders over the years, and its railway heritage is as interesting as any other aspect of the parish's history.
The first railways in the area, (though not in the actual parish of Draycott), were not railways in the present sense of the word.
Railways first came to the parish in 1848 in the form of the Stoke to Uttoxeter line which opened on 7th August of that year, by the North Staffordshire Railway Company, known locally as "The Knotty" due to its symbol being the Staffordshire Knot.

 Swanage Railway at AllExperts
The Swanage Railway is a six mile-long heritage railway in the Purbeck district of Dorset, England.
The railway follows the route of the Purbeck branch line (Norden Park & Ride - Corfe Castle - Harmans Cross - Herston - Swanage), and is now connected to the mainline at Wareham along a stretch of the branch line that remained open to freight.
In 1995 the railway reopened from Swanage to Corfe Castle, and on January 3 2002 the track was joined with the Furzebrook freight line and the Purbeck branch line was once again complete, thirty years to the day after it was closed.

 The Furness Railway Company
In November 1843, a Prospectus was published for the Furness Railway, linking the slate quarries of Kirkby in Furness, and iron ore in the Lindal area to a deep water berth at Roa Island (south of Barrow in Furness at the mouth of the Walney Channel).
The Government's Railway Act of 1921 signalled the end of the plethora of interlinking independent railway companies, many of whom dated back to the earliest years of railways in Britain, the country that gave birth to the railway.
British Railways closed the Coniston branch to passengers in 1958 and goods in 1962, the Lakeside branch lost its passenger service in 1965 - thankfully part of the line is still open as the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway - running what is now the last surviving Furness Railway branch line.

 Heritage station building grant - Maymorn, Rimutaka Incline Railway
A heritage station building replicating that designed by George Troup is planned for Maymorn, the southern terminus and operational base of the Rimutaka Incline Railway Heritage Trust.

In 1946 the T&NO was renamed the ONR (Ontario Northland Railway).

"heritage railway station" means any railway station designated by the Minister on the recommendation of the Board as a heritage railway station;
(2) Any railway company that contravenes subsection (1) is guilty of an offence and liable to a fine of not less than fifty thousand dollars and not more than one million dollars.
(3) Subsection (1) does not apply in respect of the alteration of a heritage railway station or of any of the station’s heritage features where the alteration is made in response to an emergency situation.
