La Prensa reported on 2002-01-20 that there were moves under way to split a new province of Panamá Oeste (West Panama) from the existing Panamá province, and to split a new comarca from Bocas del Toro province for the benefit of the Naso-teribe ethnic group.
The provinces of Panama are divided into municipal districts, which are further subdivided into corregimientos.
The source doesn't explain why a population is given for Ngöbe Buglé in 1990, before it was created; nor whether the population of Canal Zone is included in the figures for 1911-1970.

Simón de Herrera was born at Santa Cruz de Tenerife, in the Canary Islands, in 1754.
He was then promoted to the government of the province of Nuevo León, where he served as captain of the Lancer Company of Punta de Lampasas and commander of the provincial militia.
Herrera and Salcedo immediately laid siege to La Bahía; but, after failing to dislodge the filibusters, they withdrew toward San Antonio in February and on March 29 suffered a disastrous defeat in the battle of Rosillo.

Located on the coast of the Gulf of Parita in the province of Herrera.
With a surface of 8,000 hectares (20,000 acres) that are divided in three different areas: 3,500 hectares of semi-desert area, 3,000 hectares of sea and 1,500 hectares of fragmented soils.
From Panama City you can take a 35 minute a plane ride to Chitre in the province of Herrera and then by car to a town named Parita or you can make it by car, from Panama City, in 4 hours to Parita.

 The Azuero Peninsula, Panama
The nearly landlocked Herrera province, Panama’s smallest, is to the north; Los Santos to the southeast has an extensive coastline ringing the eastern and southern sides of the peninsula; and huge Veraguas, the only province with a Caribbean and Pacific coast, dips into the Azuero on its western side.
The east coast of the Azuero, as well as a strip of coast in Coclé province to the north, is known as the arco seco (dry arc), because of its lack of rainfall.

We are asking that trade unions and community organisations demand that the killers of a teacher’s leader in a province of Argentina be brought to justice.
Nestor Herrera, a teacher of the 722-Prospero Palazzo school, situated in the northern area of Rivadavia Commodore, Argentina, was found with his throat cut during the night of 1st May. Next to the corpse, his cat was also found with its throat cut.
Nestor Herrera was a member of the Commission of teachers that is leading an indefinite strike in that area, school classes have still not begun.
