HERSHEY, Pa. --Eric Fehr scored his second goal of the game at 9:07 of overtime as the Hershey Bears rallied for a 5-4 win over the Portland Pirates in the decisive seventh game of the AHL Eastern Conference finals on Tuesday night.
Hershey dominated in overtime, and Fehr unloaded a hard shot from the right circle that got past Portland goalie Jani Hurme, who finished with 42 saves.
Hershey had an opportunity to tie it when Colin Forbes was awarded a penalty shot 1:12 into the third, but he was unable to convert.

Both Hershey girls team are the regular season champions of their respective divisions of MAWHA - the 19U with a 11-1 league record and the 14U with an 10-2 league record.
Bears girls’ travel teams have had an excellent season so far and are working hard to wind the season up with strong showings in league playoffs and districts.
Hershey was also recognized at the playoffs as the White Division regular season champs.

Hershey's interest in hockey began back in 1931 when the game was introduced to provide a use for the Convention Hall (now Hershey Museum) in the winter season.
The Swarthmore Hockey Club began playing their games in Hershey on February 17, 1931, and by the end of the season the game had caught on so well that the Ice Palace was remodeled to provide a larger ice surface and hosting hockey games became the building's primary function.
Today the Hershey Bears have the distinction of being the oldest club in AHL history.

The Hershey Bears are a professional ice hockey team playing in the American Hockey League of which the Bears are also the senior member club.
On December 19, 1936, the newly renamed Bears also moved from the "cozy" confines of the WWI vintage "Ice Palace" (where they had to play on a small 60x170 foot rink) into the newly constructed 7,286-seat Hersheypark Arena (then known as the "Hershey Sports Arena") built immediately adjacent to the older venue.
Over the next sixty-six seasons the Bears played a remarkable total of 2,280 regular season and playoff games at the Arena which served as their home from 1936 to 2002 before moving a few hundred yards further west to the new 10,500-seat GIANT Center at the start of the 2002-2003 season.

Hansen, who has appeared with the NHL's Phoenix Coyotes over each of the last four seasons, netted his first goal with Hershey 8:40 into the final frame to erase a 1-0 deficit.
Philippe Sauve turned aside 28 of 29 shots to help preserve the tie for Hershey, which fell to 0-12-1 over its current 13 game winless skid and tied Albany for the league's longest winless stretch this season.

I doubt that anything will be done at the game, so if u go saturday and dont hear about a moment of silence, i won't be suprised, but i hope they do have one.
This has been a rough year with all the deaths of the bears fans and helpers.
