Nuit and Hadit produces the doublenatured Heru Ra Ha - and this process occurs on all levels of the combined manifestation/withdrawal of energy.
In Egyptian mythology Ra Hoor Khuit is known as Ra-Heru-akhety, and Hoor-Pa-Kraat is Heru-pa-khered.
Ra Hoor Khuit and Hoor-Pa-Kraat are twin aspects of the God Horus - RHK is the active, and HPK the passive aspect respectively.

Lord Zipacna - The Midas Array
With the death of Ra, and Heru’ur’s inability to claim the entirety of Ra’s empire, Zipacna has seen the greatest threat to his survival eliminated but with the death of Apophis has found himself in the uncomfortable position of lacking a protector from opportunistic System Lords, but he has a new opportunity.
Zipacna is much more fortunate than these “bottom feeders.” A hundred years ago Zipacna was a commander in Ra’s army and had gained much respect among the troops under his command.
Zipacna now had an outpost, an army and several Ha’tak-class vessels at his disposal but knew that these probably would not save him from the wrath of Apophis or Ra when they could spare sufficient assets to compose an appropriate response to Zipacna’s insurrection.

 Heru-ra-ha's Secret Chambers
Grady McMurtry often indirectly echoed this with his theories of "matrix management." I'm sure it crossed his mind when he issued the charter for Heru-ra-ha Lodge.
We are taught early on in O.T.O. that a multicellular organism outperforms the amoeba by virtue of "structuralization," with each cell assuming special responsibilities toward the well-being of the whole according to its inherent nature; evolution depends on this principle.
The very idea of a magical order that is individualistic but disciplined, partisan yet cooperative; whose regional groups embody the flair and flavor of the members like the Highland clans, but whose leaders deal as statesmen would -- this is nothing less than what the O.T.O. founders envisaged would come to pass someday.

Pegasus Galaxy Forums -> THor's Chariot
As for your last point: Heru'ur has Horus Guards (family of Ra), not Serpent Guards (Apophis), but the reason he was on his own at the end was presumably because there was chaos on the planet and he was trying to escape through the Stargate.
The destination Stargate may have been closed for maintenance, buried by a xenophobic race, hit by a meteor, or the planet could have been destroyed.
