  Computing Center Who's Who
When Hervey arrived at the UO in 1988 with a BA in the History of Science from Pomona College in Los Angeles, everyone at the Computing Center was putting in time at a help desk.
Hervey, who was then pursuing a second bachelor's degree in Computer Science, was one of the first student assistants hired primarily to provide microcomputer support.
Hervey is currently working part-time for the Computing Center and part-time for Netcorp, a non-profit organization that trains students to be technical interns for other non-profits.

Only Hervey Allen captures the facts of human tragedy which were the cause of Poe's departure from the scholarly successes which he had otherwise enjoyed as a member of the Corps of Cadets at that time.

He didn't finish High school, but instead went off to fight in World War I. 'Action at Aqulia' and 'Toward the flame' (which has recently been reprinted) are two of his books of his experiences in (or about) WWI.
Sadly Hervey Allen died suddenly of a heart attack while in the shower and was later discovered by his wife.

Hervey Allen, from the University of Oregon Computing Center, visited an ISP (Internet Service Provider) for 10 days in order to observe client service functions in action.
Hervey, also, came with hardware and software asked for by the ISP, and he came to facilitate communication between the ISP staff and other persons who can give ideas, resources and answer to questions that the ISP may have.
