Bosnia and Herzegovina is divided into the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republika Srpska.
It is also decentralized and administratively divided into two entities, the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the artificial entity called Republika Srpska, both part of State of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

 Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina
However, the Federation is the federation of 10 cantons and not of two countries, one called Bosnia and the other Herzegovina.
According to Znamierowski [zna99] (P. 155) the Croat-Muslim Federation should be called: Bosniak-Croat Federation; "Red stands for the Croats, green for the Bosniak people and white for purity and peace." Officially Bosnian (with n) is any inhabitant of Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bosniak (with k) is that part of the population formerly known as Muslim.

Jablanica is a community in the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton, at the site of an important hydroelectric powerplant dam.
In the retreat Tito ordered thoring down all the bridges over Neretva, and the forces were pulled out over an improvised bridge at Jablanica next to a thorn down railroad bridge.
The coat of arms of Jablanica pictures the dam and the acumulation lake on the Neretva river with the folklore ornament at chief and in base the broken bridge and all bordered golden yellow.

Transcript of the Press Conference in Mostar
Cantonal officials have promised that by the end of this week, they will provide a concrete and comprehensive action plan for the establishment of joint seats for each governmental authority that is currently divided, and as we all know it is majority of them.
Bercot pointed out that one of the priorities is to find 3 joint seats for the Governor, Prime Minister and President of the Cantonal Assembly and their respective deputies, which is to be immediately followed by finding a solution for the 8 Cantonal ministries.
You probably recall our appeals on transparency of cantonal budget, in which around a million marks has been assigned for refugees and alternative accommodation on the side of two Ministries but we could find out where was this money going to or is going to.

 UNMIBH - Bosnia Herzegovina
Another welcomed development is the recent breakthrough in Canton 7 (Herzegovina-Neretva) in respect of the integration of the Ministry of Interior and the appointment of judges.
The commitment and contributions by the international community to the peace process in Bosnia and Herzegovina should be matched by the commitment and full cooperation of the Bosnian leadership and people at every level for, ultimately, the main responsibility to achieve peace, national reconciliation and nation-building lies with them.
Malaysia is proud to have been associated with the efforts to rebuild peace and stability in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Protection of the rights of the child  - Annual report for 2002.
A total of 346 persons with developmental difficulties are registered in Western Herzegovina Canton, of which 132 children are under the age of 18, but this is not the final figure as some families refused to reported their children with difficulties.
An exception is the positive example of the Ministry of Health, Labour and Social Care in Western Herzegovina Canton, which accepted the Recommendation of the Division for regular payment of accommodation in medical/social institutions for children and the elderly with developmental difficulties.
In the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina there are still a number of unsolved problems related to protection of the rights of the child, which the Institution of Ombudsmen, through its Division for the Rights of the Child, has pointed out over the past years.

 NATO/SFOR : Transcript of Press Briefing , 9 January 2001
Unfortunately however, these success are diminished by the fact that the Herzegovina Neretva Police has until this date been unable to find the perpetrators of over 100 incidents in the past two and a half years committed against returnees in Herzegovina Neretva Canton particularly in the Stolac area but not limited to the Stolac area.
This is in addition to a number of successful seizures of illegal contraband and drugs, which have been made by the Police in the Herzegovina Neretva Canton during the past several months.
If the police is able to find stolen vehicles and return them to the rightful owners then should certainly be able to find the perpetrators of these crimes against returnees in the Herzegovina Neretva Canton.

According to a source closely related to the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton MUP, around 20 MUP employees could lose their jobs because their school diplomas, which they presented as official documents before they were hired to do a police work, are suspicious.
The Herzegovina-Neretva Canton MUP officials are not willing to comment this issue at this point.
This was established during the inspection of diplomas of the Canton MUP officials, which is still ongoing.

He claims that this is an "unofficial variant of a flag proposed for the flag of Herzegovina-Neretva county" of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
HN being the most mixen Croat-Bosniak canton (Mostar is capital), so the political will is there most difficult and question of the flag is probably left out, as it would surely stirr the spirits and would not do anything useful.
The adoption of the symbols of this canton was quite difficult process and the solution finally adopted is an obvious compromise to avoid any ethnical reference.

Decision removing Mr. Davor Silic from his position of Deputy Minister of Justice and Administration in the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton
This Decision shall be published without delay in the Official Gazettes of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton.
In this context, it is highly inappropriate for a Deputy Minister of Justice and Administration and Cantonal Court Judge on leave of absence not to comply promptly with the property laws and to implicitly challenge their implementation.
He applied to be a Judge of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina and of the Supreme Court of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

 NATO/SFOR : Transcript of Press Briefing, 4 August 1998
The High Representative Carlos Westendorp has decided to impose the "Law on the Courts of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton" and the "Law on the Court of the Central Zone of the City of Mostar." The two laws went into effect yesterday.
This means we are carefully watching and monitoring the performance of all media through out the territory of Bosnia Herzegovina through our general and spot monitoring activities and through our Media Access Support Teams, the MAST teams.
SFOR's approach to the return of refugees is even handed, as it is with all our activities in Bosnia Herzegovina.

 Bosnia and Herzegovina
One of the two entities that make up Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, was established in March 1994 and transformed the government structure of the Bosnian territories under Bosniak and Croatian control.
In March the cantonal court in Sarajevo acquitted Bosnian Serb Miodrag Andric, who was being tried for war crimes, after the court finally permitted witnesses to testify in a court in Rogatica in the RS.
Local police have not concluded their investigation, but this attack was one of a series of violent incidents in Central Bosnia canton, an area with a population almost equally divided between Bosniaks and Croats.

Bosnia and Herzegovina - Thematic Reports
Under the new law, there will be one common court for the canton at Mostar, and the ethnic composition of judges in the canton will reflect the results of the 1991 census.
The report notes that Central Bosnia became the first canton in which a Judicial Appointments Commission was established to review all applications and ensure an impartial and just selection process.
The concerns of the Office of the High Representative, the OHCHR and the OSCE were noted with regard to the fairness of the trial of Ibrahim Djedovic, who was convicted on charges of war crimes against the civilian population and sentenced to 10 years' imprisonment by the Sarajevo Cantonal Court in October 1998.

OSCE Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina - > Mission general
West Herzegovina Canton has been developing its infrastructure to support the intensive economic development of the last decade.
The Canton now has a considerably developed network of local and regional roads, and efforts are being made to improve waste disposal sites and water supply systems, in particular irrigation systems that would help boost local agricultural production.
Before the war in the 1990s, the area around Mostar was the most economically developed in the Herzegovina region, with rich agricultural land and a favourable climate, well suited for the production of wine, fruit and vegetables.

Mostar - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Between 1992 and 1993, after Bosnia and Herzegovina declared independence from Yugoslavia, the town was subject to a nine month siege.
Several dams ("Grabovica", "Salakovac", "Mostar") were built in the region to harness the hydroelectric power of the Neretva.
The 4th Corps of the Army of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the primary military formation of the Bosniaks, was founded the same year in Mostar.

Most contacts took place with border agencies in Herz-Neretvanski Canton, in West Herzegovina and the South-Easthern parts of Republika Srpska; the area of Trebinje, simply because of the fact that these are the closest border agencies to Mostar.
As La Strada BiH was asked by the State Commission, EUPM and OSCE to train local and state border police, it was decided to organise trainings for policemen (policemen from the Canton of Central Bosnia, Canton of Herzegovina-Bosnia, Canton of West Herzegovina and Herzegovina-Neretva Canton).
In addition to this, several contacts with EUPM from different cantons were established (agreement on training sessions for local and state border police).
