Hex is a board game played on a hexagonal grid, usually in the shape of a 10 by 10 or a 11 by 11 rhombus.
The game was invented by the Danish mathematician Piet Hein, who introduced the game in 1942 at the Niels Bohr Institute, and independently by the mathematician John Nash in the late 1940s.
Y and Havannah are considered by some to be generalizations of Hex; they differ primarily in requiring players to connect three or more edges of a polygonal board, rather than two selected edges of a parallelogram.

Anyone who knows a little about Reiner Knizia’s games will know that the good Doctor loves games that deal with trying to get points in various different categories and then only score that category in which the player has the least.
The goal of the game is, through clever placement, to obtain points in the different symbol colours.
The author of the game has also come up with solitaire and team play, in which two teams of two play with each player not being able to see his partner’s tiles.
