 RPGnet: Review of Hex Hex
The game that we played was wild; and while I played many good, solid games there, some of the funniest moments of the convention came during my playing of Hex Hex.
Hex Hex doesn’t pretend to be a game of deep strategy, rather it’s a blatant “take-that!” game, where players try to explode a “hex” that is being passed back and forth between players.
Hex Hex is primarily going to be a hit with the “non-gamer” crowd, as its ease of game play and simplistic strategy probably won’t appeal to those seeking something heavier.

The game was later copyrighted in 1968 under a further name Con-Tac-Tix (note this is a link to a pdf file), and it is this name that it is given at Piet Hein's official site, though generally the game remains known as Hex.

As in Hex, the goal is to connect your two sides with a continuous path of spaces occupied with your pieces, uninterrupted by empty spaces or spaces with your opponent's piece in them.
This option is refered to as the "swap" or "pie" rule in some gaming jargons, and is a relatively standard aspect of the original game Hex.

Hex is a relatively new game since it was only introduced in the 1940s.
The playing board of Hex consists of tessellating hexagons, which is the reason why one of the inventors of Hex (John F. Nash) created the game on his bathroom floor.
This game requires the player to be flexible and use different strategies in the same game, since relying on only one strategy may lead to losing the game.

As the game is entirely open and finite and must end in a result (at most n x n moves, thus at most (n x n)factorial possible games, all having to end in a result), there must exist a winning strategy for one player or other.
Note that Hex is a game where having an extra piece on the board must be advantageous - it can never be a nuisance or get in the way or anything.
