Also, it should be noted that all these people had thought that her desert level was called Dust Hill because of some unfounded rumors that had been spread at the time, and since they continously asked her about it, it's quite possible that she just ended up assuming it was the correct title.

The music is the same as Metropolis Zone, as Wood Zone's was in the beta, and the palette is very similar to Wood Zone's (the flashy yellow in the sky would have been used to animate saw blades and conveyor belts).

However, that stage (which is titled Hidden Palace Zone) didn't appear in the final game.
No one knows exactly why the developers dropped the stages (probably to make Sonic 2 shorter since the game is quite long) but a group of dedicated Sonic fans found the missing stages and restored them in their version of Sonic the Hedgehog 2.
It surely matches that of the Sega development team and the lost stages fit in smoothly with the original ones (although the first hidden stage, Wood Zone, doesn't appear until the sixth level).

I, however, don't want to accept that as the truth because there is no proof that I'm aware of to say that that was the intended music for Hidden Palace Zone.
I've read many things from these e-mails and links to related sites in them saying that Sonic 2 has been hacked into to get to the Hidden Palace Zone, and that Song #10 is played as the BGM for that zone.
My thoughts are that it was either supposed to be used as the time travel sound that plays when Sonic is zoomin' between time zones or it was intended to be used as a noise for one of Eggman's machines; possibly one of the zone bosses.
