Hidden surface determination - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In 3D computer graphics, hidden surface determination is the process used to determine which surfaces and parts of surfaces are not visible from a certain viewpoint.
Hidden surface determination is necessary to render an image correctly, as parts of the image that are not visible should not be drawn.
Though hidden surface determination is most often used to determine what is visible in the final image, it is also has other applications, such as determining which parts of objects are in shadow.

Hidden line removal - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Hidden line removal is an extension of wireframe rendering where lines (or segments of lines) covered by surfaces are not drawn.
This is not the same as hidden face removal since this involves depth and occlusion while the other involves normals.
A commonly used algorithm to implement it is Arthur Appel's algorithm (developed at IBM in the late 1960's).

Polygon surfaces (the sequence of faces) can contain data corresponding to not only a color, but in more advanced software, can be a virtual canvas for a picture, or other rasterized image.
Such an image is placed onto a face, or series of faces and is called a Texture.
Textures add a new degree of customization as to how a faces and polygons will ultimately look after being shaded, depending on the shading method, and how the image is interpreted during shading.

It is alsoimplemented to save time, because if a face cannot be seen, that means it should not be drawn in the scene, and therefore youdon't have to waste CPU cycles drawing it.
The normal is a vector which is perpendicular to the polygon which can also be said to be a plane (as defined in mathematics.) The normal sticks out ofthe front of the polygon, and so, in backface culling, we only want to draw polygons that are facing us.
Considering there are six faces in a cube, drawing only those three can save at least 50% of the work from the rest of your renderer.

hidden face of Australia : Fool Moon
The aboriginal indegenous population of Australia have become hidden in Australian society not heard of and hidden in the background.
The removal of Apartheid in South Africa and the fall of Segregation in the US happened because the fl population protested, and often lost their lives in the process; the Aborigines must do the same thing.
I think it is true that (most of) the white population in Australia likes the status quo; they are "relaxed" as the article says because they seldom see people of colored skin, or maybe they feel pity for the Aborigines but think that their state is all their own fault.

Back face culling is when you do not render a polygon because its normal is pointing away from the viewer's eye point.
A more sophisticated way of making this check is to transform the face's normal into the projection space, where the line of sight vector is always the negative Z-axis.
Then the check for back face culling is just to see if the Z component of the transformed normal is negative.

hidden flag - (scientific computation) An extra option added to a routine without changing the calling sequence.
For example, instead of adding an explicit input variable to instruct a routine to give extra diagnostic output, the programmer might just add a test for some otherwise meaningless feature of the existing inputs, such as a negative mass.
The use of hidden flags can make a program very hard to debug and understand, but is all too common wherever programs are hacked in a hurry.
