April 1, 2005-The city merged with the villages of Azumi, Nagawa, Azusagawa from Minamiazumi District, and the village of Shiga from Higashichikuma District to form the new city of Matsumoto.
April 1, 2005-The city absorbed the villages of Azumi, Nagawa, Azusagawa from Minamiazumi District, and the village of Shiga from Higashichikuma District.
