High Falls is the site of a once-prosperous town that grew up around a gristmill powered by the Towaliga River's falling waters.
The most wondrous of the state's falls are in northeast Georgia's Tallulah Gorge State Park, near the Rabun County and Habersham County line.
Park visitors are not permitted within the gorge during these water releases, but from an overlook visitors may watch the kayakers go over Oceana Falls.

We turn left on the Amicalola Falls Lodge Road which begins climbing immediately and a steep mile later the upper falls parking is to the right.
Parking on the west side of the falls is limited, however, an expansive overflow parking area is available on the east side.
Limited parking is available at the trailhead (at the visitors center), but parking along the road to the base augments it.

I would also recommend High Falls STATE PARK which is right off I-75 at the same exit as Indian Springs.
Make sure it is High Falls State Park, there is also a privately owned "High Falls Campground" that is full of resident campers, the roads are not good, etc etc etc.
High Falls State Park has two sides, one being the River side which is where we camped in March.
