Albums like this devalue your life to the extent that you cease to have one: making you a slave.
The album is just a feast of sound: little sound effects are never allowed to dominate, but seep seamlessly into each song, adding yet more to the overall tapestry.
“High Society” isn’t lamely greater than the sum of its parts: it is the sum of its parts.

The album’s single, “Carbonation”, is the culmination of mixing both synth pop and rock styles, and it finds Schmersal and Yasuda sharing vocal duties over fuzzy guitars and synthesized pops and crackles.
It should, because High Society is one of the most innovative yet listenable albums to come out this year.
While High Society may be more accessible than Believo, it is in no way less satisfying to listen to.

Enon's second album, High Society, is something of a homecoming for the band.
In the first four songs alone, High Society spans the driving, garagey rock of "Old Dominion," the weirdly brooding "Count Sheep," "In This City"'s sleek synth pop, and the jangly cuteness of "Window Display," which sounds like a cross between Preston School of Industry and Magnetic Fields.
Equally impressive, though, is the album's title track, which gives a playful nod in the direction of the Left Banke and the Kinks at their chamber-poppiest.

High Society is the follow up to High Contrast's critically acclaimed debut album, True Colours which was released in 2002.
High Contrast brings out the grimey beats on Angels and Fly dropping a dirty bassline, tough syncopated 2-step beats and an electro hook which provide the perfect setting for Nolay to lay down her gritty street bred flows.

A wry smile played across his mouth as he helped fellow rebels of nonchalance (Marcus Intalex, Fabio, DJ Marky, Calibre, London Elektricity, 4 Hero, LTJ Bukem) deftly weave rays of sunshine into a coruscating musical rainbow that would act as a beacon for the soul-loving masses - and perhaps woo the chicks back too.

So, as I’m writing this, the new Enon album is the subject of a degree of buzz in the underground rock scene.
The strength of implementation for High Society seems to lie in John Schmersal’s ability to constantly push the limits of genre, never looking back, producing hit after hit by constantly experimenting with the form of the classic rock-and-roll song.
Better Now!” and egoism aside, High Society is in fact a big step up for Schmersal and his ever-evolving band.

In order to properly rock an air-guitar, -bass, -keyboard or -drumkit, two conditions need be satisfied: one, the chosen instrument must play a prominent role in the mix; and two, the riff has gotta rock fiercely.
Perhaps the most immediately apparent quality of High Society is the abundance of such riffs, coming in such varieties as guitar ("Pleasure and Privilege"), bass ("Natural Disasters"), drums ("In This City"), and Moog ("Leave it to Rust").
It may be hard for Enon initiates to believe that High Society finds the band narrowing their musical focus from their debut, which showcased a different style on every song.
