The Highland Branch Library is located near the University of Memphis campus, on the corner of Highland and Midland, across the street from Fox Studios.
The Highland Branch Library was built in 1950 and opened in 1951 under the supervision of Elizabeth Robertson.
Highland Library has a meeting room which is free to non-profit groups whose meetings are open to the public free of charge.

 MINUTES OF THE ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING OF THE HIGHLAND BRANCH
The branch held a curry lunch in the TA Centre Elgin on Sunday 5th May. This was the first function in Elgin for 3 years.
The Western Isles section of the Highland Branch is to be an independent branch known as The "Eilean Nan Siar" branch.
Branches in attendance were unanimous in their view that the 2nd Stand of Colours should come home to Fort George and that the 1st Stand of Colours be laid up in the Scottish National War Museum.

The Branch was formed with the cooperation of the Trustees at the Seagull Trusts’ Edinburgh headquarters, local councillors and volunteers and was organised by the Director of Libraries and Liesure Services.
The “Highland Seagull” is equiped with life-saving appliances and fire fighting equipment to Department of Transport standards and is at all times in radio contact with International and British Waterways frequencies, and a mobile phone is fitted for contact with the local emergency services, hospitals and taxi firms.
In July the Highland Seagull was returned to us and went back into service on the Caledonian Canal, since then she has performed beautifully.

 Highland Branch
The Highland Branch had an extremely successful two day visit to Orkney on the Weekend beginning the 10th June 2006.
The trip was enjoyed immensely by the branch due not only to the beautiful places they visited, but also because of the welcoming staff at the hotel, the enthusiastic workers at each different archaeological site and the tour guides with their vast knowledge of these sites.
A big thank must be made to Mr Sinclair Dunnett, the Principal of the Puffin Express in Orkney for allowing the Branch to engage his services for the planning and executing of the Branches guided tour.

Centier Bank opened their 2nd branch in Highland on October 25, 2004, bringing the total number of Centier branches in the Northwest Indiana region to thirty-four.
The new branch is located at 9102 Indianapolis Boulevard, on the corner of Martha Street and Indianapolis Boulevard.
Branch hours of operation in the lobby are Monday-Thursday 9 am-5 pm, Friday 9 am-6 pm, and Saturday 9 am-1 pm.

This line runs to north from Alves to the coast at Burghhead, where there is a harbour and maltings, and then east to Hopeman.
From Alves to Hopeman with a branch to Burghead Harbour (known as the Harbour extension although it was actually the terminus of the original line before extension to Hopeman).
About 200 yards behind the camera is the buffer stop for the remaining part of this branch.

The Highland Branch was electrified at some point and operated daily electric freight and express passenger service via the Highland Branch and to Framingham and Worcester, until the Commonwealth Avenue power station was shut down for good in 1930.
The Boston & Albany continued to operate commuter rail along the Highland Branch right up to 1958 when the right-of-way was sold to the MBTA for conversion to trolley service.
This success stems in part from the fact that the right of way belonged to an existing train line, the Highland Branch Commuter Rail line, which was converted to use for trolleys.

NHS highland have made a commitment to try to offer treatment as close to home as possible by opening satellite units in Caithness and Fort William.
As part of the continuous planning for the future needs and increasing trends of renal patients, they significant investment (£1.9M capital and over £600,000 p/a recurring) has been agreed to expand the Raigmore Renal Unit and increase capacity at Caithness.
NHS Highland hope that this work will start shortly and it should be completed by the end of 2007.
