		As the Highland Land League it was consciously modelled on the Irish Land League.
		The Land League was associated also however with direct-action protest tactics and the use of these tactics was to reappear in the early 20th century.
		Some resources were put into development of the communications infrastructure of the Highlands and Islands (roads, railways, and harbours) and, in the early years of the 20th century the Congested Districts Board was able to push through the establishement of new crofting townnships on Skye and in the Strathnaver area of Sutherland.

		Highland finished the 04-05 season with a 6-12 record in conference play and will be the 7 seed out of the east and will travel to Seward Co. for a first round match up with the Saints.
		Highland’s Wesley Kitt had a shot with 6 seconds to go to tie the game and send it to overtime, but the shot was short and Highland had to foul putting the game out of reach late.
		Highland was led by Wesley Kitt and Corey Robertson with 19 and 18 respectively.

		Deveronvale have emerged as a major force in Highland League Football and are the current Highland League champions, winning the league for the first time in the clubs history.
		Fraserburgh F.C. Highland league champions in 2001/02 (their first title since1938), Fraserburgh have one of the biggest fan bases in the league.
		Admitted to the Highland League for the 1994/95 season (after 3 Inverness Caley and Thistle plus Ross County departed for the SFL) the club have yet to fare better in the league than 10th position.

		They can’t be blamed for that, not when their flitting from the Highland League into the Scottish League has had the pleasantly surprising effect of invigorating not just these clubs, but also those left behind in the meant-to-be-doomed Highland League.
		The Scot-Ads Highland League currently consists of 15 clubs which is clearly not ideal, meaning as it does that one club sits idle each weekend.
		Strathspey Thistle, based in Granton, are agitating for inclusion, along with Golspie and Alness, another sign that far from being moribund the Highland League is still perceived as the place to be for all those clubs who have observed the rise and rise of those such as Inverness Caley Thistle and Ross County.

		Some Highland League sides might not fancy going through the pyramid - when Fraserburgh won the Highland League the year Airdrie went bust there was an opening in the SFL, their board declined to pursue the opening sayign they would rather win the HL nine times in a row than play in teh 3rd division.
		In the conference leagues, redistribution would also occur in the those that contested promotion to D1B in the event that the relegated team from D1B is not from the same region as the club going in the opposite direction (ie SoS champs win play-off, but team coming down would ordinarily go into the WoS league).
		The two leagues contesting the D1A promotion slot is more difficult to work, as obviously the HL teams are nowhere near any of the other leagues.

		Huntly Football Club were unanimously accepted for League admittance at the league's AGM in June 1928 entering the Highland League in season 1928/29 when their first game was against Inverness Thistle at Inverness on Saturday 25th August 1928.
		The occasion was the first final in Highland League history that had been settled on penalty kicks.
		Although he was new to the Highland League, he ensured his side remained unbeaten until the end of the season to pip Fraserburgh for the title and guide his side to a historic five Highland League championships in a row.
