 Amazon.co.uk: Highlander - Endgame [2000]: DVD
The first Highlander film didn't really leave itself open to a sequal (Connor winning the game should have pretty much prevented any continuation) but they made a few anyway along with a TV series.
This film combines both leads from the films and the series and works very well for what it is. Like everything that came after it it ignores the travesty that was the second film and plunges straight in as a continuation of the series and other films.
Anyway this is a very cool film and would get the full five stars if it wasn't for a few niggling inconsistancies with what has gone before (although I have no problem with the ignoring Highlander 2 completly, especially with what happens at the end).

 Amazon.ca: Highlander: Series: Finale: DVD
However, I give this three stars despite that setback due solely to the fact that being a part of the Highlander series it is naturally a wonderful piece of action/adventure/sci-fi/fantasy storytelling.
Ok, so this i probably mostly my own fault for not having done the proper research on it before I purchased it, but when I saw the DVD Highlander "Finale", I was expecting an individual release of the actual final episode of Highlander: The Series.

This film was meant to be a fusion of the movie and the series, which was not so daunting a task as one may think: the series had already done the hard work in retconning the ending of Highlander years earlier, giving all of us a chance to just accept this fact.
Highlander III forgot this, focusing far too much on superpowers and mystic going-ons and not near enough time on Connor, an adversary and those mortals caught between them (oh those things were there, they just did't get near enough screen-time for me to accept this as a Good Highlander film).
The TV series has never forgotten the human lesson, and I was quite a fan of said show until it became unavailable in my area (and thus I've seen precisely one episode of Raven).

Highlander: Endgame (2000): Adrian Paul, Christopher Lambert, Bruce Payne, Lisa Barbuscia - PopMatters Film Review
Highlander: Endgame makes a valiant effort at cleaning things up, presumably to hand the films over to Adrian Paul (star of the TV series, whose producers, Davis/Panzer Productions, are at the helm here), but in the end it's just too massive a job.
The Highlander series has these problems and more, being first a film franchise that started well and then went suddenly sickeningly wrong, then a syndicated TV show, and now again a film property.
The swordplay has always been central to both the films and the TV show, and this film hits its stride when characters are trying to kill each other.

Anthony Stewart Head and Alexis Denisof both did guest appearances on the TV series "Highlander." It's interesting that the method Giles used to kill the Eliminati vampire was beheading — which is the only way to kill an immortal in the "Highlander" series/movies.
Prophecy Girl — After one of the Eliminati tries to drown Buffy, she says, "I hate it when they drown me." This is a reference to when The Master drowned her (though he succeeded, albeit temporarily).
Of course, Buffy can't always be like Faith, so she had to get a good example of what can come from that kind of full-force-ahead attitude — and what a lesson it is! I can't wait for next week, and the future as well; this is the kind of experience that changes who you are.

Contemporary fantasy : This fantasy comprises stories set in the putative real world or consensus reality in contemporary times, in which, the story reveals, magic or magical creatures exist, such as vampires or, as in the Highlander films and television series, immortals.
Series fantasy : is a series of novels by many different authors that take place in the same fantasy world.
This is in contrast to many other forms of fantasy (with the usual exception of fairytale fantasy), such as the works of J. Tolkien, which generally invent their own mythologies and volunteer entirely new pantheons, or attempt to disguise traditional mythology with made-up names.

Highlander: Endgame (R) I had never seen a Highlander film nor an episode of its spinoff television series in my life, so perhaps I'm not exactly not the most qualified viewer to review the fourth and presumably (hopefully?) final big screen installment of the cult sci-fi franchise.
The film's poster says that they are brothers, and while the two use the term "a brother" once or twice, the context suggests a more figurative meaning (as in close friend) than a literal one.
The film looks and sounds spectacular in the new digital form, all the better to appreciate the awesome sound work, John Toll's gorgeous cinematography, and James Horner's evocative Oscar-nominated score, which is on a par, if not better, than his statue-winning work for Titanic.

: Highlander: The Final Dimension - DVD film
Though the original film "Highlander" is beloved, the sequel "Highlander 2: The Quickening" was panned by most fans (that is until the release of the Director's Cut), but despite the lackluster reaction of the fans to the sequel, the tv series that was spawned brought many back into the fold.
Though not as good as the original film, "Highlander: The Final Dimension" is a good follow-up sequel and redeemer for the franchise.
Personally, I think that "Highlander: The Final Dimension" was a good continuation to "Highlander" and did an good job of redeeming the franchise after the 2nd installment.
