Highway 407 (Ontario) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The high-capacity junction with Highway 400 is considered one of the best-designed interchanges and it is currently the only 4-level stack in Ontario, other than the junction further west at Highway 427, sometimes considered to be a 4-level stack interchange as well.
Highway 407 was the eighth 400-Series Highway planned for Ontario, to serve as a bypass of Highway 401 through Toronto and to serve as a major east-west corridor across the sprawling suburbs to the north of the city.
The westward extension from Highway 403 in Mississauga to the Queen Elizabeth Way in Burlington was initially intended to be part of Highway 403.

Highway 401 is spoken as "Four-O-One" and Highway 427 is spoken as "Four-Twenty-Seven".

Highway 404 runs from north from the junction of Highway 401 and the Don Valley Parkway in Toronto and ends currently in Newmarket, with eventual plans to extend it to the northern side of Lake Simcoe.

The QEW formerly continued beyond Highway 427 to the old Toronto city limit at the Humber River; this section was downloaded from provincial to municipal ownership in 1997, and became part of the Gardiner Expressway.
