400-Series Highways - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Highway 416 and 417 were the original routings of Highway 16 and 17 respectively, in the Ottawa area.
Highway 404 runs from north from the junction of Highway 401 and the Don Valley Parkway in Toronto and ends currently in Newmarket, with eventual plans to extend it to the northern side of Lake Simcoe.
Highway 404 is the second north-south freeway in York Region and connects the northeastern suburbs and into Toronto as the Don Valley Parkway.

Ontario provincial highway 417 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
For many years, Highway 417 had the distinction of one of the few "isolated" 400-Series Highways, without direct freeway access to the "backbone" of the network, Highway 401, until the completion of Highway 416 in 1999.
Highway 417 is often quite congested through Ottawa, but there is no realistic expansion possible and a beltway plan has been only slightly discussed.
As of 2005, The Ontario Ministry of Transportation (MTO), is in the preliminary planning stages of an extensive upgrade of the infrastructure of the Queensway, along Highway 417 from Highway 416 easterly to Anderson Road.

 Highways
My interest in highways has constantly been there, but it was not something that I talked about much for many years, because I assumed there was nobody else out there as interested as I am.
During the same year, the Historical Highways Society of Ontario (HHSO) was formed by some fellow Ontario roadgeeks, to preserve the history of what was once a large King's Highway network in the Province of Ontario.
Highway historian and HHSO co-president Cameron Bevers discusses the development of the King's Highways throughout the past 85 years, including the building of the QEW and Highway 401, the different route number shields used over the years, and the mass highway downloading of the late 1990s.

All eyes on Highway 417 concrete reconstruction   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-08)
In the case of the 417 contract, the concrete adjustment factor was $433,321 less than the asphalt adjustment factor, reflecting the lower present day value of its future costs compared to the asphalt equivalent.
The LCC model used for 417 does not mean that all the province’s future pavements will be constructed in concrete, as there is a minimum practical thickness at which concrete can be laid, and in low and medium volume applications concrete may not be competitive with asphalt pavement designs.
According to Ferguson, the 417 contract is an effective demonstration of the use of concrete in road construction.

Highway 7 was downloaded between Norval and Highway 48 in Markham between 1997 and 2001, leaving distinct western and eastern segments of the highway.

A starting point was the capacity and level of service (LOS) analysis in order to determine the new lanes to be added to the existing freeway facility in order to accommodate 2016 peak hour traffic demand.
Detailed micro simulations were carried out by using CORSIM (Corridor Simulation) software and the resulting measures of effectiveness (MOE) answers were used to assess the role of HOV lanes to accommodate future traffic demand in the Highway 417 corridor.
The results indicate that the addition of one HOV lane in the Highway 417 corridor in each direction is the best strategy to meet the 2016 traffic demand.
