To evaluate whether indoor air, surface water, or crop contaminants measured in Hill AFB and the surrounding communities are associated with any unhealthy effects, ATSDR derived exposure doses based on a hypothetical exposure of a resident to each contaminant.
We used the Johnson and Ettinger indoor air model and Hill AFB environmental data to estimate indoor air concentrations in residences in the Patriot Hills Housing Area, Sunset, Clinton, Roy, Layton, Clearfield, Riverdale, and South Weber.
Based on this strategy, ATSDR found that none of the predicted incremental risks or air concentrations exceeded reference values and thus were not at levels that are known to cause adverse health effects.

Hill Air Force Base, World War II Hill Field was activated on 7 November 1940 when Lieutenant Colonel Morris Berman arrived for duty as the first commanding officer.
The base was named after Major Ployer P. Hill, a test pilot who was killed in a crash of the prototype of the B-17 in 1935 at Wright Field, Ohio.
The Ogden Arsenal was transferred to Hill AFB on 1 April 1955, and Ogden was immediately assigned responsibility for Explosives Ordnance Disposal (EOD) and for most Air Force airmunitions.

The Air Force Audit Agency has reported the base was overcharged $319,000 in 2002, according to a copyright story in Saturday's Deseret Morning News.
On 24 occasions the base was billed for aircraft supposedly refueling in flight on days that records show the aircraft did not fly.
When Air Force aircraft refuel away from their home base or in flight, their home units are billed by the Defense Energy Support Center Fuels Enterprise Server, which is commonly called the "Purple Hub."
