Encyclopedia of Arda: Hill of Himring   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-13)
The mountains ended in a jumble of low hills, surrounding a single bare hill with a broad, flat summit: the Hill of Himring.
After the Return of the Noldor, Maedhros the eldest son of Fëanor came to the hill, and built the greatest of his citadels on its flat summit.
It was apparently destroyed in the War of Wrath: at least, by the end of the Third Age, all that remained of the Hill of Himring was a solitary island, Himling, lying off the northwest coasts of Middle-earth.

Hill vetoes hiring procedure   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-13)
NORTH RIDGEVILLE - Mayor Deanna Hill vetoed an ordinance, passed by City Council, that would establish a procedure to contract for outside legal and professional services based on issues with the City Charter.
In a letter to Clerk of Council Charles Norris, Hill stated she wasn't against the function of the ordinance, which sets a much-needed procedure for major purchases of outside help, but because of the charter issues.
Hill said there have been other pieces of legislation she disagreed with that she didn't veto, but hopes the veto won't further damage the troubled relationship between the heavily Republican City Council and the Democratic administration.

Fingon rescued him in a daring feat, helped by Thorondor the King of Eagles, but he had to cut off Maedhros' hand to release him from the shackle.
Maedhros later ruled the lands around the Hill of Himring[?], which became known as the March of Maedhros because it was exposed to the hosts of Morgoth, and defeated them in the Dagor Aglareb[?].
He later gathered his brothers, other Elves, Men, and Dwarves into the Union of Maedhros, assaulting Angband, but the host was defeated in the Nirnaeth Arnoediad.

 himring
And then I feel the hot tears begin to slide down my cheeks, despite my desperate attempts to hold them back, and I fall helpless into his arms and he holds me close, rocking me gently and whispering loving words into my ear, while I lay my head against his shoulder and sob.
Today we will begin our return journey, the long, slow ride across pine-clad Dorthonion to east Beleriand and my March, back to the fortress my people have constructed on the lonely hill of Himring.
It is a barren, windswept place, rising above its fellows to take the full force of the north wind - like me. Winter's snows will be arriving soon, and once again my household will complain of the drafts that, despite our careful construction, somehow always manage to find their way into the halls and rooms.
