SouthYorkshire is a metropolitan county, located in the Yorkshire and the Humber region of England.
SouthYorkshire was created as a metropolitan county in 1974, by the Local Government Act 1972, from the southern part of the West Riding of Yorkshire and the former county boroughs of Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield.
Although the county council was abolished, SouthYorkshire continues to form a metropolitan and ceremonial county with a Lord Lieutenant of SouthYorkshire and a High Sheriff.

Its main claim to fame is as the site of the Hillsborough Football Disaster of April 1989, in which 96 fans were crushed to death at Sheffield Wednesday's stadium during an FA Cup Semi Final between Nottingham Forest and Liverpool.
Hillsborough is also the birthplace of the late Steve Clark, guitarist for Def Leppard, who is now spending his eternity in nearby Wisewood Cemetery.
It's also located very close to the Hillsborough Interchange, where all those scary First Buses meet to pick up their next victims.

Located in the light-industrial area of Langsett Road at the bottom of Walkley Hill, between Hillsborough and Shalesmoor and close to the Supertram, this rather plain-looking stone 2-star hotel features not only accommodation but a rather unusual pub hidden on the ground floor.
But since the task of actually tasting everything they have on at any given time would still result in the consumption of 7 pints, we decided to make it easy on ourselves and settle for full pints of only one or two selections.
