 Hiodontiformes
This relationship is supported by at least two synapomorphies uniquely shared by these two genera in the Hiodontiformes sensu stricto Li and Wilson (1996): supraorbital canal ending in frontal, anal fin in male and female sexually dimorphic.
Yanbiania was originally considered to be an early member of the Hiodontidae based on features from the parasphenoid, the basihyal tooth plate, and the caudal skeleton (see Li, 1987).

 Eohiodon rosei   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-31)
Originally described in the genus Leuciscus (family Cyprinidae) by Hussakof (1916), it was transferred to the family Hiodontidae and made the type species of the new genus †Eohiodon by Cavender (1966).
Specimens have since been found in the Horsefly beds near Horsefly, and the Allenby Formation near Princeton, British Columbia, Canada (Wilson 1977, 1978; Li, Wilson, and Grande, 1997).
